Under the Bridge – Actual Bridge

In the book Scar Tissue, by Anthony Kiedis he talks about occasionally scoring drugs on Bonnie Brae and 6th. He also mentions the name Bonnie Brae in the song Slow Cheetah. In the late 80s and most of the 90s anyone could score heroin or crack on the corner of Bonnie Brae and 6th. There is a donut shop that faces the intersection and behind it is a little shopping center with a laundry mat, a liquor store, Mexican restaurant and I can’t remember what else, but all you had to do was pull in slowly and a swarm of people would race to your window.

I searched Google for the actual bridge in the song Under the Bridge by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and found this.
It turns out that the actual bridge from the song may be in MacArthur park.

I was picturing the bridges that are near Union and the 5 freeway.

It makes sense that the actual bridge would be in MacArthur park, because it’s a very short walk from Bonnie Brae and 6th, however….

In chapter 8 he mentions a freeway underpass where he and his friend would go that was overrun with “Mexican gangsters” (his words, not mine) and that is the bridge I thought the song was about.  Thoughts??? anyone out there party with Anthony and know what bridge inspired the song???

I found this page. Worse Kept Secret in LA: You can buy heroin on Bonnie Brae just off Alvarado.

Not sure if it’s someones joke or an actual album with actual music.
